Tarus has created EASYDMIS, the next generation
in inspection software. The EASYDMIS inspection package has all the tools
necessary for the inspection process integrated into one, easy to use,
window. Using DMIS Version 4.0 (Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard)
as its native format, the package is compliant with DMIS compatible systems
used all throughout the industry.
The Inspection package consists of a “CAD like” data screen where solid
model, wire-frame, or discrete coordinates can be loaded. Nominal values
can be extracted from that data using powerful, easy to use programming
tools. Programming tools include point and click operations and selectable
feature icons. By selecting a feature icon and then graphically selecting
the feature data, the system creates an automated inspection program which
includes nominal feature definitions and measurement routines. With this
in mind, you can easily understand how the system can be used to create
an inspection program “offline”. The job can also be measured directly
to the IGES surface file. Actual measurements of features are taken and
the corresponding nominal information is extracted from the surface file.
Of course the system still provides a teaching mode which allows the
user to create a program as the part is inspected.
The environment includes a “tree” control that displays the DMIS program.
This gives the user constant access to the program for viewing and/or editing.
This includes copy, cut, paste, delete, insert and undo functionality.
Tarus has taken the DMIS language and made easy to use forms for creating
and editing the DMIS program for such parameters as; nominal feature types,
measurement routines, tolerances, output, etc... This eliminates the massive
learning curve other DMIS based software packages require. Accessible on
the second “tree” control are all calibrated probe angles (sensors). These
angles are selectable using the mouse or the Tarus Inspection Pendant which
we now offer in a completely wireless model!
At the bottom of the main window is the instant output window where real
time results of the inspection data is displayed. This window gives the user
instant access to the results of all previously checked features. Monitoring
the inspection process has never been easier.
Tolerance templates can be created to automatically tolerance the features
as they are added to the program. Individual feature tolerances can be
edited or added very quickly using the Output/Tolerance window.
Balloon reporting is accomplished by one of two methods. The automatic
balloon placement method places the balloons onto the CAD window at the
press of a button. Using the drag and drop method the features from the
Program “tree” are
moved to the CAD window. Using either method the user can reposition the
balloons wherever desired. The image can be printed or saved to a bmp file.
